Why not just torrent now first, get it out, then do an upload tomorrow for those who can't torrent? By then it might even be up on the streaming site

well, they get different pieces and share them between each other. That's the nature of torrent. Basically, the more people you seed to the faster the torrent spreading speed is.

right, but i think jackel ran into the issue where what happened instead was 100 people all were trying to download from his, so his slowed up and everyone had the same 1%. I was recommending that by limiting it to like 2 people, once they have it, then there are 3 seeds of 100% after like an hour or two, instead of a day with everyone at 5%.

But I'm not claiming to be an expert at all, if you know more than me and have better recommendations, please feel free. Someone should really set up a torrent guidelines, not just how to make a torrent, but issues like this.

In fact, that way will eb slower, and even has a chance of being seeded to a person who won't seed in return. Also the uploading speed of 5 ppl is much less than that of 100 people.

Say the torrent consists of 10 pieces, 4 mb each. You seed it to 5 people, it takes an hour to upload it to them. So after one hour you have 5 people seeding, and their cumulative upload speed is 5mbps (1mbps each user). basically there's 5 copies of each of 10 pieces of torrent spread to five people = 50 pieces avaliable at 5mbps.
Now another variant. You spread the save 50 pieces to 50 people over an hour, each have only 1 piece of torrent. HOWEVER their cumulative upload speed is 50mbps, and they share the pieces between each other WAY faster, resulting in much higher speed of spreading.

You mistake torrent and direct download. The difference being while using direct download each user only DOWNLOAD, and there's only your upload speed that matters for file spreading, in TORRENT each user that downloaded at least one piece begins to SEED this piece, so the speed of seeding rises proportionally the more users involved.

The best would be if everyone seeded,, but that is not commonly.

Another way to "force" them to seed is to send some persons 99% of the files, forcing them to seed for a while so their ratio becomes at least 1:1, (or till the pressure relieves( . And then send them the last 1%.. There are already some websites doing this,, but I think it is too complicated, and I would want this in for just ONE torrent (not to save all the ratio and profile stuff). Though I do not know if this is implemented in uTorrent yet...

I think, not certain, that some programs have a setting in which the program specifically does it the way Nezhul described,
