No idea... Do you get sound on the second and third video? They use the same video and audio codec. If your video player can play the videos with sound, it should work in TeaseMe too... Did the videos on "Meet Chayse Evans" have audio?
All three vids in Convince Me has no audio (although they work fine in other video players on the same computer - necessarily using the same codec)

Yes, the vids in the Chayse Evans tease worked just fine.

I'm almost 99% sure you are missing ac3filter. Check out -> http://ac3filter.net/wiki/Download_AC3Filter
ffdshow + ac3filter and those videos play fine with sound. Try it out and let us know if that solves the problem.
(other players like mpc and vlc have their own codecs and thats why they play those same videos fine)
That may very well be the case - I'll look into it tomorrow, thanks for the tip

edit: Downloaded and tested - apparently no change. Is there any config or activation needed for either ffsdhow/ac3filter or just install and go for it? I of course restarted the TeaseMe app after having installed both.

edit2: Definitely seems you're on the right track though. Tested some more players, and it seems vlc is the only player I have which plays these vids with sound. In all others I get video only. Which, if vlc has its own built-in codecs as you say, completely supports your theory. Which leaves the question of why installing ac3filter made no difference... :-/

You could try a codec pack like K-Lite or you could just download the new version of the tease with the same audio codec like "Meet Chayse Evans" ;-)

Thanks again

I'll grab the new version for now, but I will definitely play around with getting my codecs sorted to support other audio encodings as well.

I have downloaded the program, but it tells me it requires .Net framework or something to run. What is the .Net framework, why does it need it? I found some .Net framework installers through Google, but they are different versions. Also this sounds like something that makes alterations to the operating system - is this correct? If so, can it mess it up?

TeaseMe is build as .NET application and thats why you need .NET on your computer. See the ReadMe.txt
microsoft.com: .NET is an integral part of many applications running on Windows and provides common functionality for those applications to run. (...) For developers, the .NET Framework provides a comprehensive and consistent programming model for building applications.

Code: Select all

Download: http://www.microsoft.com/net/download/version-4
TeaseMe was build for .NET 3.5 but the newest version .NET 4.0 should work too. It's a very common software from microsoft for their own operating systems. So chances are good that nothing terrible will happen if you install it ;-)

Grabbed the K-Lite codec pack and that seems to have sorted it. It also seems to have messed up windows media player, but that is no loss what so ever.

Under the hood TeaseMe is using Windows Media Player now; so if you can play the video in MediaPlayer directly, it should also work in TeaseMe. Maybe later I'll have a look at VLC as MediaPlayer is a problem for porting the program to Mac anyway. I have no clue about the time when I will be done with this, so until that time, we're stuck with Windows Media Player.

Thanks - it did not work with .NET 4, but it does work with version 3.5. :)

Heh, for now you could add note to first post: "You need codecs to play teases with videos properly. Get k-lite here or cccp here" or something like that :innocent: Because seems like people doesnt have codecs installed anymore because of windows own codecs (which sucks in most of cases) or they have player which have codecs build in so they have had no need to install other codecs

Is there a way to download an unpublished/private flashtease? Or is there another way to get the flashtease script imported into TeaseMe?

I want to check out how various bits of code get translated into xml.

Just a thought.... It might be prudent at this time to ensure we have all the data related to teaseme (both the program, source and all available tease content) stored at at least two locations, preferably more.

Mediafire and most similar services are getting massive flak in the wake of the mega uploads affair, and many such sites have already started closing down at least parts of their services.

Should we end up without good alternatives, I will set up a web server myself for this particular purpose, but we'll cross that bridge when/if we get there.
