Wanted to throw my hat in the ring on some techniques that helped get the immersive quality I was looking for in
CH - With Pleasure. The first round of that video (which is also the newest in terms of development) was very well received both here and elsewhere. Hence, in the interest of sharing, here are the techniques in play. Most of these tips were picked up from other videos in the genre (thanks!), and a conscious effort was made to employ everything I learned.
1.
Organize your material early on. It's much less jarring if you choose visually similar material to go together in a round/song. For mine, I used several videos from the same site/production company in a given round. Those websites that repeat the same shooting style and use the same camera angles over and over every scene actually kinda work well for this.
2.
Decide on how you want to pace your video early on. You may want to gradually build in intensity over the entire video, or you may want the intensity to wax and wane throughout. This will influence where you use particular songs and beat choices and the order video material is presented. Lay out your songs first, they are the constant thread which has the most to do with creating mood. You might want to use markers in your video editing software to plan out tempo changes you want as you go along.
3.
Synchronize your beats to your scene cuts and transitions. However you produce your beat track, use it as a guide to synchronize the cuts in your movie to the beats.

The example above is using two beats per cut. You can use higher or lower frequency to your liking, but I think syncing cuts to music to stroke results in a better experience either way. It increases visual impact and enhances the stroking rhythm the player is experiencing.
4.
ALSO synchronize your beats and cuts with the on-screen action. In (3), I'm not necessarily saying to cut right on the audio stroke, as in the above: You can sync the stroke to, say, a cumshot landing on some starlet's face, or to the full in-stroke of the on-screen lead. It is no accident that the male lead's left nut pops out of Nicole's mouth exactly on an isolated beat in the third song of
With Pleasure. You have to experiment with the beginning and end of your cut segments of a given length to get this effect, which is where I find Sony's user interface to be superb.
For example:

Here, I'm not only syncing the cuts to the strokes, I'm also cutting between multiple starlets in the same position, from the same viewpoint AND, if you go through that point in the video frame-by-frame, the depth of penetration and point in the stroke of the male lead flows seamlessly from cut to cut. A lot of work? HELL YEAH, but from the reports I'm getting, most folks like the results.
5.
Speed is a thing, too. Don't be afraid to experiment with the speed of a given video or video cut: If the actors are fucking too quickly or too slowly for the rhythm, for example, experiment with speeding up or slowing down the clip. Be aware, though, that this can expose anomalies in the way the camera captures motion blur. Too much adjustment will look weird.
6.
Work the audio from all angles, not just the beats and songs. Whatever choices you make on whether to keep or discard scene audio (i.e., noises the actors make), make sure they are conscious choices. Don't just arbitrarily mute the all the action, or keep all the scene audio intact (especially if there's a lot of background noise). Rather, use what you get judiciously at points where it has the most impact. You can even un-group the audio from the video if there's a certain sound effect, scream, moan, or quote you like, then use it elsewhere in the video. Most suites will allow you to add effects to sounds: Experiment with delay, volume, etc. until it fits the music and is where you want it. In Vegas, you can export any individual audio file to whatever format for editing outside of your video suite. I used this on a couple of occasions in
With Pleasure to perform noise reduction, smooth audio transitions, isolate a quote, etc. Some of these bytes I sprinkled throughout the video just to come at (no pun intended) the player from multiple directions.
7. As Sombre will attest, this last one is a matter of opinion. However, if you want a style and pacing similar to my example, then
don't be afraid to cut rapidly between video footage, especially if your files are visually similar and feature similar action. My lower limit is about half a second. The frequency you choose to create cuts on can build with the music and the intensity of the onscreen action. The pace you throw visual stimuli at the player can create the sense of being rushed toward a climax, create anticipation, indicate denial and release, or whatever else your sick mind comes up with.
Sombre wrote:I don't like videos with 80% of Blowjob. Art or Hardcore fuck scenes are more exciting. Especially at the end. A video must have an excitation who go UP from the beginning to the end. With Up and Down, in the middle for Stamina. Like a Roller coaster. x) And Sometimes that's can starting with two or three round really difficult to frustrating people who can't pass it. Or Sometimes put a round really easy and in the middle of the round, change the difficulty to surprising the player and disturb his stamina.
But i'm maybe different. The others guys prefer maybe to see a stranger dick being sucking all a long... Don't know. Me, i like womens body, not really interested to see men's dick. Seeing a blowjob can be exciting but sometimes, not everytimes. ^^
I think it was you mentioning the amount of blowjob in my video thread. I believe there are several reasons you see it so often:
I think in most CH videos, the editor is going for a clear progression from start to finish. Often, the order goes teasing, stripping, blowjob, hardcore, end. In fact, this is the most common order for the material in most vanilla porn. The amount of oral in a scene is surely out of deference to viewers that enjoy it, but I think it also has to do with keeping the male lead hard for longer videos without him popping.
The way I approached my video was as in multiple levels, each increasing in intensity until the end. I think of it like a video game with a boss at the end of each level. Now, you might say I made a mistake in putting the best round at the beginning of my vid. Fair enough...but for me, I'm all about the schoolgirl fetish in the third round....and I like oral. Lots of it.
Not only do you see a fair bit of time devoted to BJ in most videos that are used as source material for CH vids, but it is attractive to a lot of CH editors because it tends by nature to keep the male lead's face off screen. They are also commonly filmed POV-style, so it's easier for some to imagine themselves in the role of the male lead.
I chose to do my video mostly POV-style. I'm aware that greatly limits my choices in scene composition as well as material to draw from. But I like the immersive nature of that technique in a CH video. One of the things you notice, though, is that nearly ALL POV has a good amount of oral. If you think about it, oral sex is probably the easiest and most convincing to film in that style. Even most non-POV films will have a segment or two set aside for POV-style oral sex. For a second cameraman trying to shoot the video in POV style, it's gotta be easier to situate the camera without one of the actors getting in the way. Imagine trying to film POV-style missionary, and you'll get what I mean. Standing missionary? Sure. Prone mish? Nearly impossible to do POV-style. Doggy? Sure. Prone bone? Hell no, unless you like filming the top of the actress' head. So yeah, right off the bat you have these limiting factors.
Sombre wrote:And, sometimes the framerate of change scene is too speed. You just can't fix your eye on a scene and a second after, it's another one who are on the screen. (Like
PMV MVP around 10 minutes) That's just success to tiring your brain and your eyes. :/ Better with more latence beetween two scenes. I prefer seeing 5 scene in a minute than 40 pieces of videos. x)
Hey, to each their own...I'm glad you're liking some of what you see out there and offering constructive criticism on what you don't. For me, the rapid cutting is a conscious thing. I try to offset it by flipping between similar visuals, but I feel rapid cuts enhance the video.
BUT DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT! If you've found what you like, encourage others to produce the same! I like variety, too, I'm just trying to explain some options above for those that liked what they saw in my vid.
