So my partner has recently taken to giving me ruined orgasms, but I find I have two types and I wanted to find out if there are different names for these.

Type 1: Simulation stops as I go over the edge. This results in just a few drops of cum. It doesn't feel super frustrating. However I tend to stay rock hard and find it insanely frustrating to stop play after this.

Type 2: Stimulation also stops as I go over the edge, but there is a much bigger load of cum. It does feel quite frustrating, but there is a hint of pleasure. I am still very aroused after this and can cum again, but it is generally a tiny load. I do sometimes go a little soft. While frustrating and still horny, I generally find it easy to stop playing after this.

Different names for these? Thoughts? Any I have missed?

The thing is there isn't really a set definition of this stuff, people have different opinions on that topic. So here is my shot.

The first one sounds like a classical ruined orgasm. Allthough for me just a few drops sound more like a really hard edge that made the cum already start to flow a bit. A classical ruined orgasm is similar like a really hard edge. You don't really go over the edge. Orgasm and ejaculation are two seperate processes that normally just happen at the same time. So the goal with a ruined orgasm is to separate those two...and stopping stimulation right before actually going over the edge gets the job done in most cases. So what i would consider a perfectly ruined orgasm is a steady flow of cum oozing out of the cock without any spurting and without any orgasmic contractions, therefore not much pleasure either. And the result is what you described. You didn't feel like you did cum at all, you are incredibly frustrated and stopping is very upsetting.

Now the second may be what many call an abandoned orgasm. Where you actually got past the point of no return and the orgasm starts no matter if you keep or stop stimulating. I consider them failed ruined orgasms as for me they feel almost as good as normal orgasms. They do also result in a refractory period like normal orgasms. I am just a little uncertain why you stated it's usually not much cum, so maybe you found some kind of middle ground between a ruined and an abandoned orgasm. But so far i would say your second type is an abandoned orgasm. Do you have contractions? I mean does your cock throbbs or bobs as you "cum"?

Yeah, that is a perfect description of type 2. Sometimes there are contractions/spurts, sometimes not. But it's generally a full load, just not fully enjoyable.

Ah yes i came across this post in the past, that specific post could be even what i had in mind when i said "many call it abandoned orgasm", i am not sure how many are actually familiar with that term though. But i found it to be a quite accurate description of the difference. Having that knowledge will get you a little annoyed when you watch ruined orgasm compilations and see what others consider ruined orgasms

I am by no means an expert on the subject. What usually helps me the most is if i haven't cum in a while, so there is really a lot backed up cum. In situations like that it sometimes occured to me that the cum started to flow before i even reached the edge at all. So sometimes i really just need to get close to the edge and i already feel the cum starting to flow inside. At that point i already stop the stimulation, relax the muscles (meaning i don't twitch or clench the pc muscle) and what i usually do to increase the amount of semen that flows out...once i feel it starts to flow i push like when you try to push out urine (hope that makes sense)

What also helps me is to not get too crazy with teasing/masturbating myself beforehand. The more i arouse myself the more likely it becomes that i fail and it becomes an abandoned orgasm. It's really a very narrow window and i don't think i or anyone else will without fail always be able to perfectly ruin every orgasm. Sometimes you just fuck up.

For me, I got such this type of orgasm, super amazing. Here is how to archive this:
0/ find the stuff that turn you on (for CEI user, try Natasha Bedroom – A CEI Predicament or Natasha’s Bedroom - The Best CEI)
1/ slowly stimulate, slow stroke
2/ go to the edge, stop there for 30s or 1 minute
3/ slowly stroke again, and then go to the edge, but go to one or to stroke before you stop for 30s or 1 minute
4/ repeat step 3, after going to the edge try to ride the edge, and then hand free for 30s or 1 minute
