I believe there is current a ratings attack by someone on CockHero videos.

Cock Hero Nations, which was a TOTM nominee for september (and which went into a tiebraker during the contest) is now at a 2.8 rating (yesterday it was 2.9).

Cock Hero - Eleven, which is one of best ever CH videos is at 3.3 (but earlier Cock Hero Challenge - Match 4 is at 4.3).

CH Flux 3 which was TOTM winner for october is at 3.4.

Now, people may dislike and vote against CH, and this is perfectly fine, but I believe there is now an attack by someone on CH, and here is why:

1. CH nations was obviously rated high (4.x) during september, and it was also at 4.x at time of the TOTM contest. Thus, it had accumulated at least a months ratings at a 4.x level.

For CH Nations to drop from 4.x with at least a months votes to 2.8 means that a LOT of people are suddenly rating it 1.

2. Similarly, CH Flux 3 by vindicare (TOTM winner for oct), after having at least one months votes at 4.x has suddenly dropped in week or so to 3.4

Have the tease tastes of people suddenly changed? I dont think so.
There has not been an increase of critical posts against CH series.

This leads to the conclusion that there is a deliberate attack by someone on CH videos, and hence an attack on Milovana itself.

Could the mods/admins look into this?

It's not just happening to Cock Hero. In preparation for TOTM this month, I've noticed evidence of ratings attacks of other teases, as well as some that have received inexplicable boosts in the ratings. I'm looking into it, though to what end I don't know. I'll keep you posted.

I think we just need to be clear about one thing -- what makes Milovana really great is that this is a special and supportive community ... the real issue about people screwing around with ratings is that it can break trust of the contributors == and then where would we be?

the problem here is that it is too easy to do these attacks, I am not 100% sure about how it works but I am pretty sure that it is 1 vote per IP address. If this is true then this is very easy to get around. I think we should only be allowed to vote once per tease per account. If you do not have an account then either make one or don't vote.

I bet this is already implemented, but I figured I'd suggest it anyways. It would be to make it so that each account can only rate a tease once.

If people don't like a particular tease, they have every right to give it a single low vote, regardless as to how much everyone else loves the tease. This doesn't smell like a sudden wave of people that don't like previously high-rated teases, but rather, someone that wants to cheat their way onto TOTM.

If a single-page non-video tease ever makes TOTM nominee, it'll be pretty easy to figure out that someone cheated.

I don't believe it is people at all. People disliking a tease, I have no problem with. This smells like a lone individual, or very small number of peeps.

Well if there is enough information logged (and probably there is quite a lot in the server log files, it just has to be extracted), it should be quite simple to find out how someone did cheat.
The requests most likely have a lot in common. It's very hard to randomize everything.
I think the one vote per account thing is implemented, but you can vote multiple times without an account.
If you don't want to disallow external voting, just separate the two internally, and use it to detect abuse.

I noticed this thread thanks to Human - it is really really odd and I think it's more than just directed at the 'Cock Hero' series; I think all video teases are getting downgraded ratings.

Utopia's 'Mr. Edger' video teases were in the mid to high 4's - now both are under a 4 rating, with his most recent episode 'Mr. Edger #2' at 3.5.

My personal video tease 'The Stroker Ace Challenge' was riding in the low 4's but just noticed now that its also in the 3.5 range. I honestly don't really care, as the feedback i've been getting the forums has been tremendous.

So, someone or some people might be down rating all the video teases in general; given that video teases are categorized as "classic teases" - while it may be presumptuous to assume any "conspiracy theory", it could very well be that someone doing traditional "classic teases" is purposely down rating all the video teases to give his or her traditional classic tease a better shot at getting nominated/winning the monthly TOTM award.

I took a quick look at the logs and there is indeed a small IP block that has done a lot of votes on Cock Hero teases recently. Specifically it seems to be somebody from England using Orange Home. They are switching IPs and then voting repeatedly.

No real way to prevent this - other than engaging in an endless arms race, where I try to block them and then they use a different method to get around the block. This is why we don't elect our politicians using online polls and why "moot" is the world's most influential person 2010.

I knew it was only one person, or small number of people. What about making it so that people can only vote when they are logged in? That way, people have to create accounts to vote, those accounts can get banned for excessive cheating. The only workaround would be for the cheater to create a new account for every time they switch ip-addresses.

That will make things more troublesome for the cheater, and hopefully minimal inconvenience to everyone else.

I do like the idea of registered users being the only ones able to rate.

I'd rather tweak it as follows:
Allow anyone to vote; but keep a seperate database of logged in user votes and only use THESE logged in votes for TOTM nominations.
