Is there any open source video editing software for Windows out there? I'm interested in making a CH but can't afford to spend $500 on Sony Vegas.

I got pretty far with blender... though the interface wrecks my brain.

I found that there are actually a few on the net, and I tried a 1st PMV with "shotcut".

There are many scenes that I like in different CH series, and I wish to have a way to create a playlist of scenes from different CH series.
There could be many ways : random, by tags, difficulty, music genre,...
There could be different game mode: xp, points, battle,...
It could be online...or not

It's just an idea, but if someone is ready to start from here.

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on my first CH video heavily inspired by Canto and wanted to share a few useful things in terms of workflow I found working on macOS with this type of video. Applications used and why:
  • Final Cut Pro X
    • I'm very familiar with this, so I prefer it over Premiere.
    • It also has a feature called "compound clips" I like. I'll merge sections when I'm done with them into compound clips. If I have to move sections around, I move the one compound clip.
  • Logic Pro
    • It's fast on the macOS and MIDI editing is a breeze. I use a custom drum machine and draw the beats in MIDI (more on this below).
  • djay Pro 2
    • There might be a better way to do this, but this can be connected to Spotify. I can access my testing playlist, test mixes here, and get track BPMs easily. Once I have what I need. I can adjust the BPM in Logic and my beat marker templates are ready to go.
  • Mindnode
    • As I mentioned, this is a story CH. There are one or two "choose-your-own-adventure" moments, but overall it's fairly linear. Mindnode is a mindmapping app helps me map, visualize, and write the story. There are a bunch of these types of apps out there, but this is the just the one I'm familiar with.
Beat templates:

This is one of my favorites, I'm not sure if anyone else does this. But since patterns are the same aside from BPM, I made all of them with MIDI. So when I'm working on a new section, I'll solo the track of the pattern I need, adjust BPM for it (which I get from djay) and bounce the audio:

I'd be curious if anyone else does something similar or if there's anything else I haven't considered that you're doing on macOS.

Not really related to your post, but what kind of keyboard are you using? Looking forward to seeing your published work as well

If you mean a mech keyboard: When making my video, just the one on my MacBook Pro since I definitely need a more private setting to do it. I just picked up the new 16" MBP, so it's actually a really great keyboard now. Otherwise, it's a cheap, TKL hot-swap board I found a while back with all keys swapped with Kaihl box navy switches.

If you mean a MIDI keyboard: a M-Audio Keystation mini. :)

Hi there

I'm a relatively new CH creator, with one published vid so far - Cock Hero - Boobs and Beauty (which can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=22380)

I made a choice not to put a strict beat meter in, but I've received a fair bit of feedback from people saying they'd at least like there to be an audible beat meter so I want to put on in my next video.

Without me having to trawl through everything here, does anybody know of/can anybody point me to a previous post explaining an efficient way of making audible beats without having to make them manually as described in the first post? No problem if not but just thought it might be quicker to ask!

I'm using Premiere Elements on a PC.

Thanks!

Use the Beatmeter Generator. Create a BPM track and a time signature track. Nearly all music anyone would use in a Cock Hero production is going to be 4/4 measure.

Image

Use the BPM track as a metronome. When you get a BPM that sounds correct, verify it by unmuting the time signature track as well. Often you will find BMP that is nearly correct, but it will drift away from the song's time signature later. Causes for that:
  • your BPM is fractionally different from theirs
  • they have multiple BPM in their song, probably all at 4/4 time
  • they didn't keep exact time during an interlude or such
  • your BMP is correct and they are playing off-beat notes that sound confusing
  • they are using multiple time signatures in their song

Last I checked Blender is still the best open source video sequencer. Blackmagic Davinci Resolve is the best free to use one, and is what I recommend.

Does anybody know if there is some kind of software that basically looks like a soundboard and creates timestamps to later work with?

Basically like a software with a few big buttons or keyboard shortcuts that are linked to sound effects or tags so i can watch a video on one screen and create the appropriate timestamps for the final sounds on another? To me that sounds like a much easier workflow than having to do everything in a video editing software from the beginning.

Hey

I'm working on a few CH projects but struggling with creating the beat tracks and beat meter's on my Mac.

Would any of you kind and amazing creators be willing to share your existing music tracks and beat meters ?

I like creating pornstar tributes, so in return if you have a specific request I can work on it for you.

It would be hugely appreciated :-) :-)

I just tested iMovie, and I noticed that the overlay feature is limited to the video aspect-ratio, and that is the reason why you decided to just use the middle part of the visual beat meter, right? This limitation is probably absent from Apple's $$$ solution, Final Cut Pro. Well, I just found a free solution for that, install Open Source ffmpeg to re-render any Cock Hero production you wish to use. The trick is to slap a green rectangle over the video except the visual beat meter that you want to keep, the music and beats stay there as well. Then, you use that video as an overlay as you did before, but you select the GREEN SCREEN option instead of the PICTURE-IN-PICTURE option.

Here's the ffmpeg command that you need:

Code: Select all

ffmpeg -i ch.mp3 -vf "drawbox=x=0:y=0:w=in_w:h=in_h-100:color=green:t=fill" ch-green.mp3
In this example, I considered a 100 pixels beat meter area, but feel free to adjust the value to your needs.

Happy editing! :-D

If your video is too fat, there's a solution!
Spoiler: show
The generated output of your video editor may be bloated, too big for not any significant benefit. One thing you can do is use HANDBRAKE with the H.264 (x264), RF18 Constant Quality and Web Optimized / Fast Start options, all other options by default. You'd be surprised how smaller the video becomes, without any impact to the quality.

You've got to be more specific about "secure", johnsonandjohnson, because I have a feeling you have something else in mind. ;-) So, what are you worried about? Btw, note that websites are reached through HTTPS, so you've got a secure connexion right there. :-D
