Stroker Ace 2 partly broken?

Post by onlytropics »

It seems the intro as well as the intermediate 'talk' parts are broken in the version of the video i have. I also tried to redownload from book_guy (many thanks for your work btw!) but that version seems the same. I also tried recoding it using handbrake (just in case there is some problem the player can't deal with), but didn't help. The version on pornhub is fine though, at least in their player.
Did anybody else notice this? Has anyone a working copy? Or is the goto here to download from pornhub? :-|

What do you mean by "broken"?

That is difficult to explain, but easy to see.
For every page of 'the host explaining the game' in the intro, the text paragraphs should appear one after the other. For me, the host and text start to blend in from black, suddenly stop, and only just before the next page shows up, all the other text paragraphs for a part of a second flash in. Then the same again, the next page (with the picture of the host) starts to blend in, along with the first paragraph of the text, but it stops before both are completely visible.
So it is impossible for me to read what the text says. Not game-breaking, if you want to call it that, but confusing.

Edit: It was quite difficult to cut it down to something I could upload, but you should be able to see what I mean.

i've noticed this too. it only happens in vlc. i don't know if it's a bug in vlc or some encoding error in the file. it's fine if you watch it in media player classic. the good thing is that the text prompts between the rounds don't matter after the first viewing.

I did the test, as Lestrian mention it happens with VLC but not with MPC-HC (my default player).
So the release you download should be fine, maybe a rendering option in VLC to tweak? (i'm clearly not an expert in VLC options :p)

So from both your answers I got the impression that something is at least "strange" with the file itself, so it can not be played in every player. Since all the stages themselves were fine, I got the feeling that the video is maybe cut together, whereby the stages and the host-parts are encoded differently. So I tried to reencode it with fixed 30fps, that fixed the video, but messed up the audio. So I had to reencode that as well.

As far as I can tell, the file is fine now. I tried to make sure the quality didn't drop. Somehow it was kinda hard to skip through the video and keep the hands on the keyboard

If anybody wants it, I uploaded the file to Mega. The same rules as always, don't download directly, but import to your own account.

It's been a long time since I thought of this, but I think it's because of a codec issue. Try downloading the most recent version of K-lite for VLC.

Thank you for posting this! I seemed to have an older version that was missing the first 20 minutes. I got that file in 2014, "StrokerAce2FinalHDv1" - is there a possibility there was a v2 released later and I somehow missed it?

So you were missing the first third of the game? Oh no we can't have that
The filename is the same I started with, so your version might have been a corrupted download or something. Or there were different versions with the same name. Who knows.

Anyway, have fun!
