3D First Person Adventure Adult RPG - Uses standard WASD Controls

Arousal and Tribute Meters - You must build up your Tribute Energy before becoming fully aroused. Once you have filled up your Tribute Energy you must find a Tribute Altar and collect your Reward. If you fail to do so before your Arousal reaches 100% you lose. Be advised this will trigger Game Over event.


Consumables

Tenacity Tonic - Strengthens your resolve and removes some of your Arousal. Nymph Nessa can prepare for you in exchange for some of your Tribute Energy.
Press 1 - To bring up Tonics HUD
Press 1 Again to Drink Tonic or/
Press Escape to Cancel

Quick bit of feedback...
The island is HUGE (and not in a good way, I feel everything's too spread out). If this is the new norm, some way to toggle auto-running so I don't have to constantly hold down Shift would be nice (like Capslock on/off being the toggle or something).

I also seem to be able to scale many cliff faces (though there are invisible barriers present still).

I was able to get into the maze in the demo, not sure if that was the "one tribute quest" or something else.

Seems this still works... I can stand on top of them and not trigger a scene.
[I'll have more later, but that's just the quick bit I've found just running around the island and avoiding as many rounds as I can]

This will be the new norm. I do like the size so there's room to add to or also to be able to flee, escape, and hide. Especially from the relentless handmaidens and pets.

Your concerns are valid though. And I've already begun working on a better spawner so there will always be rounds close. I do like the capslock suggestion. Will look into adding that into next release since I am always running as well. :lol:

Have also started to look into implementing a sort of online game save system. Hopefully if it works players will be able to just download new releases and not have to worry about looking for and moving their old game saves. They could just continue where they left off but with whole new rounds and rewards.

The only barriers should be along the coastline and those are there only to stop the truly adventurous from wandering around endlessly in hopes of finding something. I am aware of some of the cliffs they are sort of my short cuts when testing things. But as the island gets further developed those will be improved upon.

If the exit leads to a tribute altar than yes this is the Tribute Quest. If not than I may have missed one.

Ok.

I've downloaded the "full" version. The one on your site, the premium one.

First of all, i want to thank you for this great concept, the time and effort you put in these projects.
That's out of any doubt.

But i need to be sincere: after a dozen of times of trying to go through this game, i only can say that it was simply unplayable for me.
At the beggining it was just fine and i experienced zero issues.

But, when i get to any of the mazes, it just become laggy.
And i'm not talking about the First Person walking part, that works fine.
I'm talking about the videos.

Some videos just freeze, and the audio tries to play without success, like if the video were struggling to get out.

And my system it's not the top of the top, but also, it isn't cheap or oldie.
Just a Core I-5 4440, and a GTX 750.

And i've tried on both: Windows 7 and 10.

Same issue.

I dont know if it is poorly optimized and just can't make a good use of the hardware resources or it takes a huge amount of hardware to get it running right.

NOTE: I've just put GPU-Z side to side with the video and my Rainmeter widget and i noted that, when you are walking through the island, the GPU load goes up to 95% and the processor just touch 30%.

But when a video comes in, the GPU drops to almost 30% and the processor goes full load.

I don't know if it can help, but it's something strange.

Thanks for reporting this. I'm trying to look at what could be causing the lag you are experiencing. Since everything is done the same as far as video playback is concerned between the two areas. If anything there is more going on in the main island versus in the wilds.

If you get a chance can you try preceding a little more cautiously in the wilds (mazes). It is easy to be swarmed by several npcs in these areas. So would like to determine if this is what is causing your lag or if it is something else to do with the maze itself. The goal being to try to only trigger one encounter at a time.

Tried the demo. A few of the videos are hanging badly on me on Win 7, in the way that they used to before your last release, but mostly it's okay. One was when I fond Jennaa and one was when I got rushed by two harpies and a beach slut in Jennaa's house, if that helps at all.

Agreed on the too big thing - the island is too spread out for the density of encounters on it.

Is it just me or does arousal rise faster than tribute? I got one potion and didn't get a chance to use it before I had to stop, but I don't like that there's a game over condition in something of this size; I feel like the only real game over condition should be the player losing control. Perhaps a punishment round or something if your arousal hits max instead?

Additionally, I know got that you were trying to use some kind of flat polygon at the horizonline to simulate clear water, but a lot of the tree models frequently ended up behind it and looked weird cuz they got shaded blue.

Ahh sorry to hear this. I did my best to keep everything simple. But it looks like whenever the player experiences multiple encounters there will be lag issues for some users. I'll be looking into this a little closer to see if there's a different way to handle this. But for now I'd just recommend to proceed cautiously to avoid being swarmed.

Yea this is part I wanted to leave room to add to and part the spawner I originally created wasn't working properly. Have already started working on a better spwaner and it will be introduced in next release.

It depends on your encounters. Based on my playthroughs its actually pretty balanced. Where I'm able to build up enough Tribute Energy and claim reward all while being one or two encounters from becoming to aroused and losing.

We have a few interactive narrative games which are more linear and all eventually lead to a reward of some kind. I still really don't agree with how you're handling the 100% arousal case.

Think about this from the player perspective. You want to punish them, but other than occasionally using a tonic or managing encounters based on faction - something not in the game yet - the player doesn't have any control over the arousal meter. It increases simply by the player playing the game, and then the player is punished by having to start over if it hits 100% through no real fault of their own? What if the player is just enjoying running random encounter mini-rounds, or if they made a lot of progress but got lost somewhere? Starting over from scratch seems like way too harsh a punishment.

Basic game theory: you want to provide enough challenge to the player without overly frustrating them. Dropping an hour into a game only to lose all progress because of something I don't really have any control over definitely seems like it'd tip that scale. For something arcadey then yeah sure, but not for something that you might want to play for more than 20 minutes or so.

How about this? Maybe instead, make the player spend tribute? Maybe allow the player to, at certain points on the island, spend one point of tribute to remove two points of arousal. If arousal hits 100%, make the player go through an extra-long punishment round then take away a good chunk of their tribute. This case should be more than the 1-for-2 ratio than you might have to pay if you voluntarily spend, but it shouldn't set them back to ground zero. Maybe take away 65% of their total tribute and drop their arousal to 50%? This gives the player some extra agency over in-game arousal and offers some additional ways to manage it, while removing the additional frustration of having to start over from scratch and pulls them further away from a reward. If the player fails to manage it correctly, then they get set back and the game gets tougher because they have to last longer outside of the game to reach an actual reward.

The imbalance this creates between the player's arousal level and their tribute level then forces them to then find a way to manage arousal, otherwise they'd never reach that reward. Obviously the balance here would need fine-tuning, but it would both make the game more interesting, more challenging, more engaging, *and* less frustrating.

I'm still of the opinion that In the ideal case, so long as the player is physically able to last outside of the game, they should be able to continue playing. Especially if the character in the game is supposed to actually be representative of the player.

Alot of these are already in game. Currently the player at any time can got to Nymph Nessa and trade Tribute Energy to create more Tenacity tonics.

Also its important to note that both Tribute Energy and Arousal increase rather gradually. So at anytime the player can just go get more Tonics.

FYI one of the videos just hung on me again - one of the same ones as yesterday. Girl with a red bottom and orange top feeling herself up on a stone staircase? Might be the way some of these are encoded.

And it's Nessa's maze/Nessa's encounters that are locking up, my bad. The game seems to be able to continue past them though if you let the videos chug through. The last few seconds eventually play and you're good to continue.

Do the orbs in the mazes do anything? They don't seem to.
If there's an area you are finding particularly difficult please let me know. Besides a few traps here and there it should not be overly difficult to progress in the game.
Nah, it's not that, I just don't think it's fair to make the player redo the entire game - especially with everything so spread out - if they fail to manage their arousal properly.

It might be fun to add some regions of the map or some encounters with characters which reduce (unbeknownst to the player) arousal. The meter starts to slowly drop through the course of playing in / at those zones. Just a suggestion. And it could be worked quite funny ... ugly chicks, chimpanzees grabbing at your dick; baseball statistics memorization requirements ... etc.. Players who learn to manage their arousal-meter by visits to these zones, thus maximizing their effectiveness at other zones of increasing arousal, will therefore become even more adept at playing the game.
