Creators: What is your process?

Post by PrimeSwitch »

I'm curious to learn how other Cock Hero creators go about making their videos. I have a very particular process, and it helped me make three Cock Hero's with more on the way.

1. I start sourcing content. I see what turns me on and download like a mad man. This includes porn and non-porn. If there's a way I can blend the two genres, I'd try to make it happen.

2. I decide on a theme. I never had a general Cock Hero, they all focused on various themes like Fitness or college. I feel like this is a great way to establish a foundation, and it's pretty easy to build up from here.

3. I set up a playlist. Most of my commutes will be spent with me combing through Spotify and finding what would fit the theme most. Originally, I picked Flux Pavilion for my Fitness-themed Cock Hero because it's who I listened to when I went for a run. For me, the music was always an important component to my Cock Hero.

4. I split things up. Rounds are like Chapters to me, and this is when I start storyboarding. This involves setting aside what songs and clips I want to play for each round.

5. I begin editing. Each chapter is their own music video, basically. Songs tell mini-stories, and each song as their own verse, chorus, and bridge (calm portion). After every chapter has their own video, then I write out the beats that make sense for the song and where I am in each song. From there, it's all downhill.

6. Post-production. Insert commands for the player. Insert beats into each song. Connect with voice performers and write their script. Ask for re-reads of certain lines that didn't land properly. And then... put it all together.

How do y'all make your videos?

So when I answered this I was just feeling things out with my first video, and now since I have started it I can shed more light on my creative process. So in general I am web designer and a experienced Photoshop user but when it came to video editing I have always wanted to try it but was a little nervous to because of the overall scope of it all.

About two years ago I stumbled on my first cock hero video and always wanted to make one so I am as of right now. In doing so I have had to learn several programs on the fly. I have a real respect for everyone that does this because of all the work it takes to put one out. So here is the way I do things...

1. I bought myself an external hard drive because I needed the added space just to download porn. I download everything, more so of my favorite actresses but I like to have a nice overall amount of porn, right now I think going into this you can never have enough so I have almost a terabyte which 90% of it is in 1080p and 4k

2. I have created my own theme I want all my cock heroes to based off and that is the EDM scene, I am a huge fan of EDM and have been to the Ultra Music Festival this year (2018) and its fucking awesome. So my theme is based on this whole scene which I call it the Ultra Series, because there is so much I can do around it, in the future I am looking to possibly do a story around it but that is a story for another time.

3. So I have the porn and the theme it is then time for me to pick out the music, I select the music carefully, I go and watch other cock hero videos to see which songs have been done and then I go back and look at what I want and come up with a nice balance. If I see someone has put a song into there movie then I wont use that song in mine unless I can find a really good remix but more than likely I wont use it.

4. I then decide on the ladies I have seen Riley Reid in my opinion has been used to much so I wont be using her in this project but the one thing I found out for me personally making a round based on one pornstar works best for me so I try to organize all the movies I have of that star and start looking to see what I can add, what looks good and so on. I like to also leave it to the people who they want to see in the movie because my favorites are in there but my favorites might not be yours so if you have someone in mind and I can find them in 1080p then I will try and put them in there.

5. At this point I find it easier to work on the beats first, I use beat generator and when the beats are done I then load the file in Adobe After Effects to put the scrolling beats in. At this point once the beats are done and the scrolling beat meter is done I take the first song or Round 1 song and build around it with the one actress for that round, and then save it and do the same for the next round and the next round etc. So that's what works for me.

I started making Cock Hero's, because I loved synthwave and it wasn't really utilized, even though it seemed to me that it fit in perfectly. I had a bit of Photoshop experience and zero Premiere experience and just figured I could learn it, no problem! I always kinda shied away from creating, because I didn't want to deal with the beats, but then the Beatmeter Generator was released and figured I try it out.

For my first Cock Hero, I basically already knew what songs I wanted, so I started there. Was pretty easy picking all the staples of the genre, got lucky on that one. From playing other Cock Hero's, I decided that I liked the round style and I liked the ones that focused on one girl. Picking the girls for my first was also really easy, I already had a bunch of girls in mind and they all had a lot of scenes available. At first, I found a bunch of scenes that I enjoyed and started editing, just throwing them together following a formula (I still follow this formula a bit haha). It was coming along great, finished editing all the rounds and clips together, was looking good! Then I got to the beats... apparently I didn't understand the Generator at all and screwed everything up and didn't know it at the time, it looked good to me when I put them into Premiere and released the video. That was quite the mistake. The beats were completely off, the clips didn't match the beats, the beatmeter was hard to see, just a lot of issues. I felt like a lot of hours were wasted, but I wasn't going to give up. I contacted Kerkersklave (the creator of Beatmeter Generator) and he basically held my hand and helped me with his program and then it just clicked. I fixed all the beats, reworked all my clips to match the beats and finally, had a great re-release!

After the learning experience of my first Cock Hero, I've been following the same routine for my other releases.

1. Music. I always start with the music, just go through Synthwave mixes, think of songs I've been listening to myself, checking out the new releases on New Retro Wave. After my first release, this part actually became a lot harder, a lot of synthwave is very slow and makes it hard to have scaling difficulty and not have the whole thing be easy. I decide how long I want the whole thing to be during this part.

2. Beats. I like to make all of the beats for all of the songs before I even open Premiere. I feel like it's a lot easier to edit after already having the beats done.

3. Girls. I still tend to choose girls that I enjoy personally, but I have also been expanding, because obviously not everyone enjoys my tastes. Finding scenes is my least favorite part of the whole process tbh. I usually just go through thumbnails of scenes and think about if it would fit or not. Most of the time it's okay, but sometimes it's a dud.

4. Editing. The most enjoyable part to me. I edit one round at a time, adding in all the graphics before I start editing the clips. I found that I enjoy editing the clips after I have made the beats. I feel like I can get a nice flow going and don't need to go back and fix the clips to match the beats as much.

5. Revising. I go through each round multiple times, making sure everything is correct, make little adjustments here and there, and I just render! For my last few releases I've been sending the first revision to vonwoosen, who has been testing for me, making sure there wasn't some glaring issue I missed and just his general thoughts. I then make some more adjustments and just release it.

To keep track of everything, I just make a text document with the outline of the Cock Hero. I try to make my rounds scale up in difficulty, usually this just means the BPM, but it's not always the case. Here is an example of what I do https://pastebin.com/w6xw2yBC That's the outline for Outrun 2 Miami Sunset.

I can usually do that whole process in a total of five days or so, finding the clips and sometimes music feels like an eternity though.

It was a huge learning process, but it's very fun and satisfying for sure. I'm glad I'm already seeing Synthwave being used in new releases! Overwatch 2 had some Kavinsky included, albeit in the credits, but it's still awesome. And of course there's Sir Derriere's new release, Pleasure Simulator X, which is pretty much all Synthwave, very dark choices, but fits very well and it's great to see.

This turned out to be a novel and much longer than it needed to be, but it definitely answers your question haha

Really?

I've done 2 videos, early stages of working on a 3rd, mental placeholder for a 4th video.

Anyways, my process is pretty similar to yours:

1. Have the idea for the new Cock Hero project.

- I also write out a little text file with my "project goals" on it (use mostly 1080p clips, use this kind of music, have a round that does such and such, have my graphics look a certain way, etc.)

2. Get music, and decide on order of songs, and make a play-list. I try to think of slower to faster, and try to put the more energetic songs at the end (final round, reward round, etc.)

3. Gather porn. Tons and tons of porn. It seems like it's never enough. Gather even more porn.
(Continue to gather porn throughout as needed to make the video interesting and have a good selection of girls.)

4. Sort through downloaded porn. I pick out girls and scenes that I want to use. I most likely end up with some extra content set aside - maybe some girls that I like, but don't think that I will put in my video, which comes in handy in case I have to add more to the video later on.

5. Start working on rounds. Place the song in the video editor, add the clips and start editing.

- Save each completed round with the music. Put the date that I finished the round on the filename so I can see how many months I have been working on this.

5a. While I am working on the rounds, I also listen to my selected songs while driving in my car, or with my headphones. You would be surprised what kind of ideas you can get for your rounds.

*6. Add the beats to the songs.

7. Stitch my rounds + breaks together and render a "test-content" file ... and ... *ahem* ... "try out" the test-content.

- Make my changes and edits until I am happy, or fix any minor mistakes I had made like black frames.

8. Render the chunk of "completed content" - rounds (with the beats) and breaks in-between.

9. Create the beat meter from the "completed content" video clip.

10. Add on screen graphics: round title, beat changes, on screen instructions. Very tedious.

- render "final content" video (completed content + beat meter + on screen graphics).

11. Create intro & end credits.

12. Render: intro + final content + end credits = Cock Hero video

* (6) for my next video, I am going to try and add my beats to the songs first, before I even edit any video.

Sorry this was so long, and I hope I don't sound like a crazy person with my process. :-)

I’m working on my first one, so everything might change once I get there.

However, I definitely start with the music. To me that’s the core of CH, really. Also, I think it’s a lot easier to cut and mangle scenes to music, rather than the other way around. For this particular project, I’ve mixed the music together into one continuous track, and then I’m using the beatmeter generator software to make the rounds. The plan is definitely to have the whole CH be non-stop, but it’s possible I might piece up the music for the beatmeter generation, just for performance issues, and then just splice them together for the final video.

I do have a definite theme in mind for this one, so while I’ve been fine-tuning the mixing (I’m using Virtual DJ 8, live mixing it), I’ve also been grabbing everything that I could find in 1080p for the stars I have in mind from empornium. In a lot of ways, while curating the content is entertaining, it’s also the most tiring and mindnumbing bit of the work so far.

Based on the music and my own ideas, I do have some very definite ideas for how I want things to happen in the CH, so a good part of it is hunting for the right scenes and moments. I’m keeping a text file where I note all the best scenes for each star for each category (smile, solo, PiV, DP, cumshot, etc). I might not use all of them, but I want the list handy for reference when I get to the actual editing.

So where I’m at right now is working on the beat tracks and starting the editing of the first scene.

This is a fun project for me, since while I’ve done video editing before, it’s been a good bunch of years, and Premiere has changed quite a bit since then. Also, while I love music, DJing is pretty new for me, so I’ve been learning about beatmatching, harmonic mixing and so on. So whether my CH turns out like crap or not, I’m learning a ton of stuff along the way.

I think what is most important to me is to get music and video matching as well as possible, and making sure that the music/beat timing is on point, because nothing drives me crazier than a CH video where the timing is off. So it’s time for me to put my mouth where my dick is, or something like that.
My latest Cock Hero is Sweet Mammaries, a Cock Hero Quickie.

I've also made 4-play, 4-play 2, Getting Down With The Thiccness, Fuck Hard Cum Harder, Filthy Cute and Kittens & Cream. You can stream them all on SpankBang or search up their announce threads here for other options. :)

This is very interesting to read how others approach the editing I must say :-)

Anyway, here's what my personal workflow looks like - I tried giving examples based on the Cock Heroes I've made so if you've watched them you should be able to relate to that.

1. Preparation.
I decide on the general "look" of the Cock Hero. I've made a few so far: two 5-minute ones, 1-Hour Madness, Madness 2 and Satisfaction. In this step I decide on:
- How long the video is going to be in general - especially important in my earlier releases where I've put the length into the title.
- Video "theme" - how the video should feel. Madness is more hardcore oriented, while Satisfaction is more on the softer side of things. Here I also think about the ideas and twists in the video - for example in case of Madness 2 this is where I decided it should have (in addition to warmup and reward) three challenges - with one to choose from - as well as some rounds to play after the challenges and before reward. Obviously the whole concept evolves over time, but this step is the basic concept, the "foundation" of the video. In case of Madness 2, the elements that were added later were the "Ultimate" challenge with a special hidden round and two rounds with no break in between (because I initially wanted to play with mixing audio :-) ).
I don't do story based Cock Heroes therefore this step is kind of simplified compared to what others may be doing.
- Collect ideas - this step is hard to set a concrete start and end of as it pretty much lasts until the last round is edited. For example in case of Satisfaction after I decided it should be light/refreshing/relaxing in the previous step I kept my eye on this kind of content (music you hear in the radio/streaming, video content you see - music clips are especially good for this). This is where the "tropical" kind of intro/outro vibe came for Satisfaction. If I see/hear something that fits I write it down/download it.
- I also read the feedback here on forums to remind myself which mistakes not to repeat and what people especially enjoyed about the previous videos.
At the end of this step I know what I need and how the video is going to look like. I possibly already have some material - generally incomplete song list, possibly intro/outro video.

2. Collecting stuff.
At this point I know about how many rounds I want to have and what kind of content I need so I start collecting stuff. This of course mainly includes video material and is closely tied to how I want the video to be set up. Examples:
- In Madness 2 I knew I wanted warmup to be blowjob only and as it's more hardcore oriented - possibly with more than just one guy. Reward should be most intense, also within the video "intensity", so possibly gangbang/orgy. Because in this video all the other rounds were kind of the same, the I try to stick to the same studio for each separate round and categorize them. Even though the content is repetitive, this gives each round its own unique feeling.
- In Satisfaction it was more about categorizing based on the content which I've written down in advance during planning: warmup - solo, 2nd round - lesbian, 3rd round - single guy, 4th round - 1 guy two girls etc. Because it was so heavily based on content, I didn't care about studio not matching witin the round.
In case of music - if I don't have enough at the point when I collect most video material, I go ahead and start looking. To me the best option is starting a radio on Spotify based on category or specific song/playlist or finding matching artists. Of course collecting video and music overlaps: found fitting song that is longer than expected -> need more clips.
By the end of this step I have all music and all video content, each assigned to its own round in a separate directory. It's time to "fill the music with video clips".

3. Edit rounds.
I edit each round one by one. Intro and outro are edited last. For each round I do the following:
3a. Edit beats - personally I use Ableton which for me speeds up the whole process tremendously. Adding beats is super easy and they always match the music. It also gives me a ton of options when it comes to tweaking the audio.
3b. Edit round and put it together.
I try to streamline this process as currently this is what takes the most time for me. I try to "formalize" (if that's a correct word for this) it to the absolute maximum, down to the point that it may look like it could almost be automated. Currently the process looks like this:
- I put the music+beats track into the timeline and add text hints.
- As I have the beats already made for the song I know how many fragments in total I'll need based on the song length and average length of a single fragment. I also know how many intense (doubletimes etc.) / slow / break moments there will be. I write down how many of each "intensity" fragments I'll need. Example: if it's a round that's supposed to have sex scenes shown in it I categorize it into following 4 categories: 1. solo/undressing (shown at the start of the round), 2. blowjob, 3. regular sex, 4. intense sex, particularily interesting fragment, unusal camera angle.
- I go through each video and look for the fragments I need and put them into the timeline, setting the starting points and the order in which they should appear. The choices are made fully based on my personal judgement of course.
- I use the script I wrote myself (viewtopic.php?t=19984) to arrange the video layers I've put in the step above. This puts all video layers one after another with no gaps or overlaps, filling the video.
- I render the round in lower quality (faster render time) and re-watch it for basic editing errors. Since I've streamlined the whole process there's usually close to no errors.

4. Final editing.
Here I edit the intro and outro, put the rounds together, add the instructions, the "skip to XX:YY" texts, countdowns, credits etc. I render the whole thing in full quality and re-watch it looking for errors again. If there are errors I fix them and re-render. Once there are no errors, this render becomes the release video.

Somewhere between step 3 and 4 there's time where I know approximately how much more time it's going to take. This is where I create a trailer - the video is already (or almost) complete and the material is there, so it's generally quite easy to make one. To me making a trailer is actually quite fun - you get to experiment with editing a bit more (scene changes can be faster, more effects can be added), there's also plenty of material to choose from. Once made I announce the video and give an approximate release date.

I know this post is a bit long, but it basically describes my whole process in as much detail as I thought should be necessary to keep this interesting to read or allow someone to adjust own process based on ideas from here.

Hope you enjoyed the read :-)

I'm in perpetual collecting mode, so not quite a creator yet. :-D Though, I would love to collaborate with a camgirl to create an all-legit Cock Hero production. Also, music is tough to pick for me. I tried to compose some beats, but my stuff is not up to par. :band:

I also have quite a collection which I have been sorting into categories by actress, act, quality, and type of production. I have competent video authoring software and hardware. I have even started deleting low quality stuff both by my likes and clarity of picture. This thread has helped my organizating for this!

I have also made a number of PMVs and teases - but they are only for me so far. I am hoping to change that soon. But the audience here is very sophisticated and has high expectations. Perhaps you all are spoiled by the quality of artistry already provided for you to enjoy.! So it is a scary endeavor for me to release personal creations. :-/

Thanks to everyone that does contribute, I hope to join you in the future.

I mentioned that some software is needed to create CH's and so forth. "Humble Bundle" is a website you should know about.

https://www.humblebundle.com/?&linkID=5 ... umble_logo

They currently have Vegas14 Pro as one of the software packages that they are offering. Humble Bundle is a site that is for charity funded by generous licensing of software that the brand owners allow. If you pick up the Vegas package you will also get audio editors, a photo editor, and more. They ask for at least $12.00 for a donation. It is a good deal. If you get the Vegas license you can update it for much less than the current new price for that alone.

If you are wondering about Vegas you should have a look on YouTube for the tutorials and reviews.
I am currently learning the basics, it is a big program with a lot of ability.

This post is not only to bump this one up (because I'm sure people wanna make a Cock Hero, but don't know where to start), but also so I can give my - very humble - two cents on this one.

And before you read this wall of text: don't be discouraged by it. It's a long process, but the ongoing process and the end results is very rewarding :)

1. First of all: what kind of Cock Hero do you wanna make?

Is it one with multiple rounds or a story based one? Do you want it to be more soft- or hardcore? What kind of categories do and don't I want? Do I focus around certain pornstars, a fetish (hentai, schoolgirl/teacher, jerk off instructions) or a popular category on tube sites (anal, interracial, big asses/tits)? These are all things that already give you some structure to begin with.

2. Make a longlist of scenes

Don't download straight away (unless you really want to), but make moodboards with girls you wanna see per round and throughout your whole Cock Hero. And always select more vids than you actually want, so you can change things up. Of course, you can always make adjustments ;)

Also a pro tip: try to have a small core of girls and other 'one offs' in your Cock Hero. It gives a sense of continuity and makes your video a whole, instead of separate pmv's back to back. I've made a Cock Hero where around 15 different pornstars made an appearance, but 3 or 4 were in 3 rounds.

Another tip: arrange your scene in a logical order. Don't do blowbangs on round 3 (a bit exaggarated, but you get the point). Instead, build up the tension.

3. Select your music

Music may be more important than the porn you choose. Music is what dives into the subconscious of people. And if you combine that correctly with a certain type of porn, the results are electrifying.

4. Create beats for the music

Always make beat patterns that connect with the rhythm of the music and that are easy to follow. Also check the BPM, so the beats and the pattern don't go slowly out of tune. Als, have a bit of variety in the beats, but don't make it hard to follow.

Both Hydrogen and Audacity are great tools for making beats and blending them together with the music.

5. Edit the rounds

BY FAR the most annoying and time consuming thing to do. I personally write down all the takes during the music and which girl will be in that. It's not the fastest way, but it's good to see what you wanna do and how you wanna do it.

6. Make adjustments

Always dare to be critical to your own work and try and see which parts can be improved. The best way to know what to change is by 'testing' the Cock Hero yourself, or have someone else take a look at it.

7. Create the visuals of the beat pattern

If you want to, but a lot of people want that, and understandably so. I asked for help on this one and with good communication, everything turned out to be great.

I will probably miss some important aspects, but these are most things you need to do!

My thinking starts with the music, almost like a "DJ first" mentality.

0. What type of video are we making? This affects the music, video clip and editing choices.

1. Choose music. Think what genre, then listen to many songs, and choose the best. Think about BPMs a bit.

2. Create a DJ mix, which will be the soundtrack. Think about the pacing, highs and lows of the journey. Then mix the songs as a continuous thing.

3. Add CH beats. Add the beats to the mix, adjust the songs if needed. Do all kinds of sound engineering to make the beats audible.

4. Import the soundtrack to the video editor.

5. Find cool video clips to use.

6. Start editing the clips according to the music.

7. Tweak the beats if needed.

8. Add all kinds of graphics, title cards, beat changes, teasing text. Add the beatmeter if needed.

9. Export video clip sounds and mix them into the soundtrack. Re-import soundtrack.

10. Find problematic parts and errors. Tweak beats and editing as needed. Takes a long time.

11. Final render.

12. Create screenshots, write release notes.

Your process is a lot like mine, but why do you do this? Surely your editing software supports multiple audio tracks so you can do all the balancing right there and then have it all come out in the final render?

To an extent, but it's better to do it back in the DAW where I can see real audio level monitoring and use all the necessary filters and compressors.

I also do this. But I must do it this way, because the video editing software that I use doesn't have robust audio monitoring / editing abilities.
