It was so sad to hear that. She was so young, man.

She was one of the biggest characters to appear on Island 5. I have to think what to do about it now.

She was great.

It's understandable feeling, but I believe it's unreasonable and even dangerous. Some points why:

- People can and do take offense at anything. Literally. How would we judge what was 'worthy' of offense and punishment and what is not?

- It's not hard to imagine that criticism could push a depressed person over the line, even if such criticism is warranted. So ... no criticism ever?

- Concern about hurtful words is not symmetric. People accept 'mean' things being said about the 'out' group without a second thought, while simultaneously taking great offense at minor insults against anyone in the 'in' group they see as special/vulnerable in some way and want to protect. Who wins this battle? Does the group with the most people get to say whatever they want while the other group has to stay quiet and take it? Or do we apply rules equally to both sides. Either we have protected free speech or we don't. Nothing is more unjust than a subjective application of the rules.

- If we don't want free speech anymore, fine, but then prepare stay very quiet and never say anything for fear of offending someone and facing the consequences.

I worked with an older guy who was a Vietnamese refugee. Nice guy, but whenever I asked him an opinion about 'x' or 'y' he just state some vague "I don't know", or "I don't really think about that", or some other excuse not to state an opinion. It took several times before I clued in. When he was growing up as a kid what you said could get you killed. If he seemed 'critical' or 'negative' about the 'wrong people', he might be reported and that would be the end of him. So he learned to never say anything beyond the necessities.

Anyways just some thoughts. August Ames death is undeniably tragic and if mean comments on twitter pushed her over the edge, that unfortunate, but it's not enough reason to want to hunt down and hurt those who said these things against here. The irony is they were hunting her down for saying 'mean things' and wanting to punish her (get her fired, embarrass her, etc). So where does this end exactly?
I think this could be the post of the year, and points are valid to post on most forums/place of discussing things that I'm aware of.

I hope that AA may rest easy and I hope there's a pleasurable afterlife for her  When things like this happen, it always makes me think about the stuff that is wrong with the society, culture and in people themselves, to enable things like this to happen. It would be comforting to know that by the year 2030 for example, what happened to AA won't have to happen to anyone anymore, but we have a lot of work to do! Maybe a start could be, that instead of telling people we don't like to go **** themselves, we could just say  !

Required, and all creators out there, don't touch a frame of your productions. Keep these scenes as a tribute to a beautiful being, but having devastating internal demons. :\'-(

I must second that!

And about the psychologic stuff that was written before in all those very long posts: I agree with most of it.

Only that some had that "we Americans" or "in our Country" stuff in it was IMHO completely wrong. Please do the "Oh captain, my captain"-thingy, stand on a chair and have a second look around (over the borders and the oceans). It's not only like that in the U.S., it's the same here in Germany and my imagination tells me it's the same all over the whole earth! And it's actually so sad, it could make a weak soul want to end its life.

Strong souls either go with it, or stand up against. But the strong souls wanting to go against don't team up well. So tackling the sources won't happen anytime soon. Or they just cannot accept that the sources lie within the new world order, the financial and economic system and by that the greed of mankind.

My condolences go out to the family of August Ames.

I recall from back "in my day" when the death of Savannah caused a stir in the porn industry.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savannah_(actress)

Seems that low self-esteem, suicide, and porn performances sometimes go together? Often go together?

I'm kind of confused at people (anyone; but, especially, porn stars) who care at all about what other people say about them on the internet. I've suffered my jabs and jibes and just said, "Oh what the fuck, I don't care, it's the damned internet." Worst thing that ever happened to me was getting banned from a chat-forum for a war-plane game I loved to play, because the (idiot, non-english-speaking) moderator thought I had been trolling when I asked people to STOP being racist. The way I said it was, "Please don't say something like I hate chiggers nicks and jops" or something like that, but the mod slammed me anyway. That got to me, really made me angry ... for like three minutes. Or even twenty. But suicide? Wow that's a lot further down the line than a few words on a screen could drive me to.

She had an excellent body. But then she started getting some strange poor choices in plastic surgery, especially to her face. I'd liked her before the major collagen injections to her chin, nose, and lips. What tits wow ... also, note, her tattoo says "Born Wild" but really doesn't look like that's what it says.

So, my suggestion to all porn stars is, if you start doing things to your body that are unintelligible (illegible tattoos; bad choices about why you did plastic surgery) then you should put yourself on suicide watch.

Really. I'm not being facetious. (Yes I am. But only sort-of.)
