IDEA : Cock Hero Advent Calendar / Days Of Christmas

Hi all,

I thought a possible fun community project would be to create and advent calendar / 12 days of Christmas cock hero.

It might be fun for those of the community who like creating but don't want to make a full CH video to make a single round with an xmas theme.

These could then be uploaded and linked to a thread with one round per day for either the advent calendar or the day of Christmas it represents.

What are peoples thoughts on this?

A coordnator for all the contents would be required whihc I would happily do or pass to another if they wished to run with it.

I'd be down to take part in this project. I can spit out a round that I've been mulling over. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be available to coordinate this (though I would love to), since I'm trying to get my next Cock Hero finished before the end of the year.

One random thought: There should be some standardized gameplay mechanics that all the editors involved should follow (beat meter, beats, etc), or at least a single editor who would make the beat meter for all the rounds.

I think this is a good idea and we have plenty of time considering the users only need to make 1 round each.

My idea:

Users who wish to submit a round send a cut-to-music CH round of their own style to only ONE beatmeter creator. The beatmeter creator is the effective creator of the project and compiles 12 rounds with beats (all of the same type since they're by 1 creator) into a video that you play 1 round/day on and you also don't cum for all 12 days until the final round.

We don't necessarily need a 12 user limit, the top 12 rounds(if that many are submitted) can be selected by the beatmeter creator by his taste kind of like a privilege for being the beat creator.
Rounds would likely need to be 1-2 songs long but high intensity to still make each day tough albeit short.

Thoughts?
The tough part is finding a beatmeter volunteer who can get the project DONE ON TIME :whistle: the perfect solution being kerkerslave's beatmeter software most likely

I can do one or two rounds.

I think each creator should just agree to make their rounds with a visible BM. This would keep rounds consistent and also divide work load.

It would be nice if coordinator made like a 12 song playlist that creators had to follow. This way each creator can choose a song or two to do with what they wish. This alone should make the project more cohesive and enjoyable to play.

The coordinator could also create a finished full ch of all rounds if they are so inclined. Kind of like how levels 3.1 was done.

Just my thoughts seems like a fun idea

That's also a fine idea as long as the beatmeters are of good quality. The key in following the 12 days of christmas is a one very difficult round per day with 12 days rest type of playthrough OR the focus could shift to just making an awesome CH with a bunch of different round styles like levels 3.1 as a present :w00t:

I am intrigued by this, and I'd like to be involved in at least some little way (even if I don't make a round or some beats or something). I would like to offer this project outline, which I think is a good start:

I. Pick Songs
    A. Songs 1-12
        1. Put Songs in Order
    B. Reward Round (Is round 12 the "Final Round" AND the "Reward Round" too?)
    C. Intro
        1. Main Title
        2. Instructions
    D. Break Music Song(s)

II. Make Beats
    A. Select Beat Sound (Kick, Snare, Handclap, Woodblock, Jingle Bells, or something else)
    B. Rounds + Reward Round Beats
    C. Make Final Beat Track

III. Video
    A. Decide on Final Video Properties
        1. Resolution and Framerate (example: 1080p - 60 fps, 720p & 29.97 fps, etc.)

IV. Make Rounds
    A. Rounds 1-12
    B. Reward Round

    A. Make Video Logo

This is not complete I am sure, but it's the best I can put my thoughts down at the moment. Someone else will be probably be able to add items and further refine it. I think it's a logical way to divide up the project.

Also, I don't have anywhere on my outline if it is decided that there will be a story for this too.


Finally, I would suggest that the songs are picked, and the beats are made before it's turned over to the people that want to make the rounds. I don't know if everyone would like to do it that way or not ... and maybe those people do their own beats + video. BUT, I think it could save time and work in the long run for making the rounds.

One more thing:

I say everyone submit songs. You would have to decide if they are going to be Christmas/Holiday songs or just songs, and then you will have to put them in a 1 - 12 order. Hopefully the songs can be ordered from slow/easy to faster/difficult, and everyone can agree on what that might look like.

This could use me and Tittyluvr1334's beat techniques, we're getting pretty solid with it. I wish we could get pl3b's script to work, I love the meters it generates. But it craps out with my (fairly new) version of AE.

To be fair making the beats is the easiest and quickest part for me now after I've moved to Ableton + the script you've mentioned. I could see myself doing this.

However my internet is kinda shit and I have a full-time job, plus the responsibility is big as the whole project relies partially on that one person, so realistically I don't see myself editing the full video material together (downloading probably uncompressed videos + rendering + re-uploading). What I could do is: create beat patterns to selected songs + create beat audio file + beats with music file + beat bar videos that could be placed on top of the video material (possibly with a distinguishable background color which could be color-keyed out to make it transparent). Of course the beats would be created purely based on the song tempo and not based on the video content, but I think most create the CH videos this way anyway. This should be doable over a day or two.

If so, the songs would have to be selected quickly as overall as we have only 1 month left and we want to get to the part which can be parallelized as quickly as possible. In order how I see the project is:
1. Song selection,
2. Creating beat audio files + beat bars for each round,
3. Sending out the beats and beat bars. Each creator picks the song and beats to work with. From now on the creators don't wait for anything anymore and can work in parallel,
4. Collecting the created rounds and combining them together. There's still work here (which can partially be done together with points above) which involves intro, outro, round intros (if there are any) etc. There needs to be a deadline on this, probably not less than 1 week before the release.
5. Video release.

Of course during 1 and 2 when the audio isn't ready yet, everyone who wants to participate should already look for material to be used and possibly prepare it as much as possible without music and beats (select interesting parts of the video, do any color adjustments etc.). Part of actually creating the rounds is the most crucial - I'd assume one additional round just in case. If it turns out that everyone made their stuff on time, we can always have a bonus round, otherwise we have a rescue plan.

If this is the direction you guys think we should go, I'll share more technical details of how I see the editing should go.

You, Tittyluvr1334 and I need to chat offline. :) I really really wanted to use your script for Inferno Canto 2, but technical issues (likely Adobe bugs and nothing to do with your awesome script) prevented it. So I haven't had the opportunity to use the script to it's fullest capabilities. TL is a drummer and has a great ear for blending beats. Me - well, I just think CH videos shouldn't have shitty beats, so I offered to help.

For this Christmas edition, I suggest OP take this by the horns and lead the charge. Move things forward and folks will likely join in. Set up a forum/venue for discussion, start to lay out a vision for it (the whole thing needs cohesion and purpose). Talk to Gemcutter and the PMV Games guys (here: https://discord.gg/hBkGzK) about how to pull it off. This is not a trivial project to bring together, much less in 2 months. And you're going to have to push and take the lead to make it happen.
