Re: Mega Collection of Book Guy
Actually it's 5GB per 6 hours (at least for me when I tried) and you can clearly see the limit itself and your used transfer on the mega account's dashboard. Anyways I asked mega to send me the exact transfer limit calculation/rules for the free accounts because I cannot find it on the site.
But frankly I don't see this as a showstopper or that big of a deal. I checked there are only 3 CH over 4 GB: Inferno, RYG, Mindwrap and 1 over 5: Fantasy 3. So anyone can easily download 2 or 3 CHs in every 6 hours. You can use JDownloader to automatize the process of downloading more so you can download 20GB a day if you don't change IP addresses. If you can change IP address with reconnecting to your ISP (you can automatize that in JDownloader) you have unlimited download. And if this is still not enough 5€ is not the end of the world for a pro account.
Of course this is not ideal so feel free to suggest other/better cloud storage providers.
@book_guy: I don't think you should abandon updating the collection. I think it's still very useful for the community and your work should be rewarded with a 100 young virgins of your choice.
I however suggest to put the limitation warning in the first post so the users know that they need to be aware of the limitation. Something like: when you reach the 5 GB limit mega will stop you in the middle of your download and you need to wait 6 hours to finish downloading the actual file. You may suggest the use of JDownloader as well.

Try converting some of the larger videos to H265 or try compressing them into a RAR file. You might not be able to get a very good RAR compression ratio, but it could useful in some situations.book_guy wrote:Yeah to put it differently, it's (sadly) the case that whether or not you operate it the way I "wanted" you to operate it (I made the rules for other reasons, they aren't really applicable to this new change at Mega), you'll now be over-limited by Mega's bandwidth-cap. It's a "secret" cap in the sense that you don't really get warned about it adequately until you've busted it. And it's a misleading cap in the sense that the warning that you get is about the number 75, but the application of the cap is at the number 5. I can't imagine why they would lie like that, except in order to deliberately mislead and thus engender falsely inflated interest from new customers.
Anyway, now it's the case, that each and every visitor to my sharing zone must now go about his downloads in an extremely frugal fashion, and this frugality must be on own initiative, by choosing to download no more than 4.9 GB per 24-hour period. That means, generally, one, maybe two at most, cock-hero videos, for any of the higher-quality productions. All users must know to do this in advance. All users must self-police. And if any one user doesn't, then poof, suddenly for no apparent reason he is punished and there's little advance explanation available to him other than "We sometimes limit to 75 yadda yadda" which should in fact be translated to "we always block you over 5." It's unlikely I'll be able to get the word out adequately to ALL potential users; and even with adequate information available to all, the only success you get is that everyone learns adequately well that he's screwed. Totally successful dissemination of information about the low download cap doesn't raise the download cap.
Doesn't mean the sharing zone is a BAD thing, but it seems silly to continue to update it for now. I won't trash it, of course, and presently any Mega user can still get a lot of these files into his own "control" by copying them from MY Mega account to HIS Mega account. (eriol, that means you ... ) The problem will be, getting them from ANY Mega account down off the cloud to a USEFUL FORM on a REAL computer. Like, downloading to a hard drive.
I kind of wonder. Why do they make it difficult to use a cloud-server? I mean, what else IS there to do with a file that is stored on the cloud, than, uh, duh, MOVE IT OFF THE CLOUD? Haha it's kind of like saying that Microsoft OneDrive or DropBox will now no longer allow people to access files on their services. "Yes, you have 10 free Gigabytes of storage on OneDrive. But the upload and download rights are so limited that you can never successfully put anything there. And anything that's already there, you can't get a copy of it." WTF ... ?
(Thanks for the file-splitting thought, but I don't think it will help much either. It will only make a quasi-aborted 6-GB over-limit download be ever so slightly less quasi-aborted. The 6 GB remains over the 5 GB limit whether it is downloaded in one piece or three. Furthermore, to implement it, I would first have to proactively go about splitting each and every oversize file which is in the shared collection now, on my own initiative, first downloading them ((how? I can't ...)) then splitting them then re-uploading them. No thanks.)
So, your thoughts? Resolutions? Suggestions?

Compression has almost no use on videos and converting all of them with H265 is really time consuming (if you want to do proper job on them). We are talking about 250 videos (331GB).zenetix wrote: Try converting some of the larger videos to H265 or try compressing them into a RAR file. Thanks for this info, Eriol! I think J-Downloader is going to become necessary for any major interactions with Mega in the near future, sad to say.Eriol wrote:Actually it's 5GB per 6 hours (at least for me when I tried) and you can clearly see the limit itself and your used transfer on the mega account's dashboard ... I'm not necessarily abandoning the act of continuing to collect Cock Hero videos. When (if ever!) Island 4 comes out, I'll be popping it into my collection promptly! I'm just stepping back from making over-arching updates, and am no longer promising myself (or the Milovana community) that I'm rather dedicated to staying abreast of all Mega and CH developments as they arise. I'll simply reduce my enthusiasm and the "definitiveness" of my collection, until the current growing pains at Mega dissipate. (In fact, I never claimed it was a definitive collection. I always said it was only what stuff I like, and that it might disappear or become rearranged at a moment's notice, so it's not like I had some duty of definitiveness to fulfill anyway!) If it ends up that Mega is still the best solution after a good generous waiting period, then I'll keep stuff at Mega. But if it turns out, as I think is rather likely, that a different site will end up being a better solution, perhaps in entirely a different form or format, then I don't want to put too much work into the layout and set-up of the Mega collection just to abandon it.Eriol wrote:Of course this is not ideal so feel free to suggest other/better cloud storage providers.

For me, the worry is probably mostly about simplifying the logistics. The change at Mega may be yet one more straw onto the logistically overloaded camel's back. What do I mean by "logistics"? Well, just, you know ... ORGANIZING the damn internet connections. Being in the right place at the right time, not mistakenly starting (or stopping!) a download without having it go to the right destination disk, etc.. In principle, the Mega collection is in fact a rather simple concept, and it doesn't take much thinking or planning to get it right. A monkey which could be relied upon to act regularly and accurately could be told just what to do, step by step, and as long as the monkey did the steps in the right order, everything would be fine. In fact, the monkey would probably get a lot less bored than I do. Nevertheless, in practice, it's a huge problem, to do all these tasks one after another. The extremely long delays in downloading or uploading such large files, keeping all the Mega "spaces" (max 50 GB per free account) separate while being logged in to only one at a time, computer processor space necessary for the entirely locally encrypted web connection which is Mega's method (a method that may also really convolute some work-arounds like J-Downloader, come to think of it), all the complications each add just a little bit more logistical ... uh ... logistics. No one complication is very much of a big deal at all -- for example, you have to log out before logging back in again, no big whoop, an idiot could figure out how to do it. But you have to actually do it. And they add up fast. Log in, double click, get download (wait wait wait ...), log out, log back in ... any one of these is a required mouse action, then probably a keyboard action, then another mouse action (boy I do SO wish I could run my mouse directly from my keyboard and thus bypass a lot of the hunt-and-peck necessary for supposedly "user-friendly" GUIs to accomplish database management). Few of these steps can really be automated, either, you have to be on your toes at each of the interstices or you'll start sending a huge file to the wrong destination disk, which isn't REALLY a problem, but then you have to take the time to move it from one disk to the right destination, which also isn't REALLY a problem, but you've just doubled your download time, sure a monkey could do it, if he took the right steps, it's not REALLY a problem, but boy enough of those and you start to notice that it's actually quite a problem, you know? Seriously, I'm not complaining, I decided to do this thing! But it takes probably a LOT more time than folks might assume, not only because I'm using a typical home internet connection, but also because each step must be a single slow careful GUI step by mouse, you can't do it stoned, you pretty much can't even do your laundry or fix lunch because you need to be around the computer in case something flips out, etc.. Sometimes I wish I had a monkey who could be relied upon to act regularly and accurately.
So, thanks for the thoughts, and no, it's not abandoned. I'm just reducing the enthusiasm for hyperly anal-retentive rearrangements at Mega until I determine more conclusively whether Mega will remain the collection's longer-term home.
Either way, I'll look forward to the reward. You suggest 100 virgins? No, thanks; as Billy Connolly wisely says, "Virgins? Naaaaa. You'd have to TALK to em. I'm a slut man, m'self. Give me two fire-breathin' Glasgow whores ...". I LOVE the way he says "tew ferbreethan glasgew HEW-wers".
I'll take these two:

Specifically, I'm referring to videos that are greater than Mega's 5 GB cap which are few and far between. Obviously, converting or compressing hundreds of gigs would be very time consuming.Eriol wrote:Compression has almost no use on videos and converting all of them with H265 is really time consuming (if you want to do proper job on them). I see. There is only 1 CH over 5GB we will see what can I do with it.zenetix wrote:Specifically, I'm referring to videos that are greater than Mega's 5 GB cap which are few and far between. Re: Mega Collection of Book Guy
New disappointment has arisen at the Mega website. Get your copies while you can! I'm now anticipating that my sharing zone may probably fall to attrition soon. I shall not take any drastic measures either way -- neither to try to preserve it (whether in its current state or merely in its current level of functionality) nor to try to "abandon" it (and move the entire contents of all files elsewhere) before anything surprising happens. I will let the attrition close it for me, if it does, or not if it doesn't. I'm just going to leave it like it is and hope for the best but anticipate the worst ...
Here is the evidence. The settings pages at Mega now indicate that the account(s) which I use to administer the sharing zone are "over quota." Here are two screen-shots. The highlights indicate, for example, that I am at "714%" of quota, that I am "running out" of space, and that my account "has exceeded" its quota. (You may view the images in a new window or tab in order to be able to enlarge them and thus read the details, if you wish.)
In fact, the problem could just be Mega's own poor writing. They might just be displaying a negative statement about my accounts even though they have not assessed my accounts as having reached that negative state. Maybe the interfaces at Mega SAY I am "over quota" because each account's total accessible files add up to over 375 Gb of shared files, when in fact each account is well within quota because each account contains no more than approximately 45 Gb each, within the maximum 50 Gb limit. In other words, "yeah yeah their interface is wrong, you're fine as long as you keep it like it is." Well, their interface previously did NOT contain this type of re-accounting of shared-file totals. The introduction of this new information is precisely what worries me. They used to ignore how much you shared. Now, I'm sad to say, they are starting to count how much I share, and they're applying it (although misleadingly? and perhaps inaccurately?) to my quota. This means, at least, that things are changing at Mega, and not for the better, I think.
If you'd like more details, read on ...
Elegant, simple, a convenient horde of files, each sorted into its proper place, a place which has been chosen on the basis of well-wrought and thought-through organizational principles, without excess tedium of management, is my desire. However, Mega's growing enforcement of storage and bandwidth limits, and this enforcement's encroachment on my previously ingenious (if I do say so myself!) universal-sharing solution, threatens to introduce extreme tedium of management or, alternately, to eliminate the elegance, simplicity, and well-wrought thought-through organizational principles which I value and enjoy.
This is not the death knell. It's just a warning toll. No action has yet been taken, nor is any specific action anticipated. I await further developments. But get your copies while you can!

Wow that's an interesting concept -- you basically re-cloud your cloud-memberships so that you have a mega-cloud over your clouds which itself is ... oh yadda yadda ... I'll give it a look-over, thanks for the info!Eriol wrote:Did you try services like this?

Re: Mega Collection of Book Guy
Sorry, to report, COMPUTER CRASH!
But do not fear, nothing is lost! My hard drives, my encrypted sectors on those drives, and all my records of my accounts and passwords are all intact and backed up in multiple locations (mostly cloud, a few external 1 or 2 TB USB hard drives), so as far as I know there won't be any data or access lost, once I am back up and running, I'll be able to recover access to everything (as should you all! backup, and do it responsibly and automatically! danger-ranger says ...).
I have had serious computer down-time lately, a hard-drive BIOS crash and a Boot Sector thingummy and, well, I thought I fixed the problem but it looks like I didn't, it came back. Anyway I didn't really know what I was doing so it's not like I had a right to expect my fix to stick. The computer now dead was an HP "Envy" and it lasted a good four years or so, I carried it around a LOT and even checked it a few times in the airplane luggage down below in the hold, so I can't complain too much ...
So, I'll have to buy a replacement computer in the near future. Until I do get a replacement, I won't have any personal computer. Therefore, in the interim, my pornification must be limited. I can really only log in to porn sites and "do" porn on borrowed or public computers at odd hours when nobody's looking.
Any thoughts on good current models? Pretty much, I know what I want, it's just a question of finding the right combination of characteristics and features and specifications without having to pay extra for all the other specifications that I don't want. I want the Bran Flakes with Half and Half but I do NOT want a bagel on the side, yet everyone seems to insist that any Half and Half consumer requires also a bagel, which is just beyond me, since if you get Bran Flakes you obviously shouldn't also need a bagel ... you know how it goes ...

Re: Mega Collection of Book Guy
Update --
Zone added! Just added zone I (letter "eye"), link inserted into first post in this thread. Enjoy any of what's there! (And follow the rules dangit!)
Files added! Since last I gave notice here in this thread (October 30, 2016, IIRC) several new cock-hero-style videos, plus a few other-style files, have been added to the collection. I'm not sure exactly which files are new additions, because (1) the newly added files had been piling up in my offline storage for all the long while during which my attention had been occupied by the growing evidence of Mega's eventual downfall as my choice for most useful sharing-host, and because (2) some of those newly added files have been inserted into the collection in sensible alphabetical order, but some others have simply been left out of alphabetical order at the tag-end of the collection in (new) Zone I, due to space and re-sharing limitations, and therefore I have lost record of which in the alphabetical listings are newly there.
Index? Not yet. Soon? Maybe. I will try to take the time in the near future to make a clear list of (a) what I've added since the last update to the collection (as notified in a post in this thread, IIRC Oct 30 as mentioned); and (b) what the whole collection now contains, for a master-index.
OK, so that takes care of what's new and fun.
But what's not new or fun and is, in fact, now old and sad is, that Mega continues to get worse.
Or, to put it differently, changes in interface and available buttons and in notifications of errors and of available files are all making Mega worse FOR ME and for this collection. As a website, and generally as a porn-related service, Mega still appears to be a good provider, in that it certainly looks like it has a relatively careful solid barrier around a member's internet anonymity and his files' encryption. I like that much. But they really limit sharing among related accounts, for the interface now hides the sharing opportunities to an even greater degree than it had done when I described it in previous posts. I won't go into the details here, for it is mere technicalities about opening or re-closing or re-re-opening windows, etc., and I suggest that you don't need to worry about it (unless you want to run your own Mega accounts similarly).
Therefore, new organizational principle for my collection. Alphabetization will be abandoned. That which is already alphabetized (as of today) will remain so. New files added to the collection (from tomorrow on) will not be inserted into alphabetical order.
In other words, from now on, if it's new, I'll just stick it into Zone-I. Then if Zone-I fills up I'll make a Zone-J, then a Zone-K, and so forth, adding files to what might be called "the bottom" of the collection, and adding zones as well there, if and when necessary. This new organizational scheme disappoints me because it means that a user can't necessarily find what he might want without either hunting and pecking by browsing through the entire contents of all zones one after another, or instead by browsing a master-list of some sort, an index (which therefore would better be created in a file format that is browse-able, not just plain-text). I wanted to be a better librarian than that. But the newly restrictive set-ups at Mega preclude the degree of alphabetization which I can presently integrate into the collection. So, un-alphabetized it is, from now until further notice.
Have fun with what's up there. Remember, please MAKE YOUR OWN COPY FIRST, by moving a file to YOUR OWN Mega account, and only there-after download, thanks.

Re: Mega Collection of Book Guy
In response to recent down-time at Milovana.COM, I have deposited a plain-text README.TXT file into several top-tier folders at my sharing zone on Mega.NZ. The file contains links to the rest of my zone and general info about the zone.

I saw that you recommended CH Discipline - viewtopic.php?f=25&t=12932&start=15. However it doesn't seem to be in the collection. Was it a casualty of your computer crash?

Hmm, very odd ... I'm sorry, I don't think I have Cock Hero Discipline. I don't know why not.wellrested wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2017 10:05 pm I saw that you recommended CH Discipline - viewtopic.php?f=25&t=12932&start=15. However it doesn't seem to be in the collection. I do see a post (probably the same post you saw) where I name it as one of my favorites (here viewtopic.php?f=25&t=15121&p=189874#p189874 ), but I frankly can neither remember nor find Cock Hero Discipline now.
Your guess, that I Iost it after a computer crash, is probably the best surmise, but it would nevertheless surprise me if this surmise were true. Prior to today, my impression had been, that consequent to that drive failure, I did not actually LOSE any files from my collection, I just lost EASY ACCESS to some of them. All my videos were still SOMEWHERE, but maybe due to download or upload time or the like I couldn't get at them quickly. My chore after the failure was simply, to put everything back into readily accessible locations, copying some files from one of my more inaccessible "cold" storage places ... or so I had thought, until now. So, I had believed that as of now (in fact, as of a few months ago) all had been restored. Maybe not?
Whether or not the restoration was fully successful, it remains the case that all my cock-hero-related stuff is in my Mega sharing zone. I have nothing elsewhere, so if you can't find it in there, then I don't have it. And you're right, you can't find it in there. I can't find it in there either.
The original release-thread (here viewtopic.php?f=25&t=12932 ), from way back in 2013, includes both a public torrent and an Empornium (private torrent tracker) torrent. I bet you can also find a streaming link or two. It's up to you! I am not currently set up for downloading via torrent, because I'm still on a net-book only connection that is mostly dedicated to work responsibilities. If I get better private personal internet service, and a more powerful computer (a.k.a., a computer that most of us would rank as being within the minimum normal range, LOL) in the near future, then I may choose to re-download Discipline and then re-upload it to Mega.
For now, sorry, I can't provide it for you. Thanks for pointing out that absence. If you're desperate, you can try this one other potential solution: look in ALL the sub-folders of the entire collection (har, I know, tedious! but ...) for a mis-placed folder. I may have accidentally drag-dropped it wrong at some point in the many change-overs. In fact, now that I mention it, SOMEONE has pointed OUT just one such mis-placed folder to me. I don't know if I still have that message, dangit ...
Gone the way of all libraries ... slow attrition ...
