Just said this elsewhere, and it bears repeating here ...
book_guy wrote:As far as my collection goes, don't hold your breath on it growing much more. I may add a few of the recent releases (Prime University, Blue Angel, uh ... there were a couple more, just before those two, IIRC) in the next several weeks, but otherwise my collection is going to start getting a bit stagnant for the near future. My computer access is more limited because of the type of laptops and desktops I'll be using for work, the people who maintain them and their network and internet set-ups, and my own access to more private home-based internet services. I haven't ever wanted to "break the rules" about accessing porn where I'm not allowed to access it, and I haven't ever (not much! ... ... just a few jokes between friends, no "real" downloads or uploads). Now my home-based access is more limited, and what little maintenance I had been willing to do from work (you know, just check a link to make sure it's working halfway through some big issue, or similar) I will no longer do. Additionally, that little amount of maintenance that I had been willing to do, is less than I can really do from home right now. I travel a LOT for my work so I am not investing in a home ISP of any cost for a significant time.

Me too. Since September 1, 2020, my Mega Sharing Zones contents are being removed by Mega.

Haven't written much lately, so, here's a brief update on the status of my collection --

First: It's still there! But I haven't added to it recently. Any previously published information about the contents (look to the chronologically more recent posts in this thread) is still accurate. All previously published links should still work. (And if they seem broken to you, then please post that fact in this thread, thanks!) The immediately previous post in this thread could be read in a manner which hints, that I might cease making any more additions to the collection. I do not presently plan to end making additions, so if you read that post in that manner, then you should know that you have perhaps inferred your conclusion incorrectly. No guarantees, though ... :)

Second: because of Mega's developments, the organizational principles of the collection will need to change. No big whoop to you. More details in spoiler:
Spoiler: show
I think I will no longer try to add each new file into the order alphabetically, but rather I will simply deposit new files at the end of the storage space(s). Files already in the collection will remain where they are, and most are presently in an intuitive form of alphabetical order. But files added to the collection from here on out will not be added in alphabetical order. Because of this change, there will also arise a need to publish an index (and consistently update it) to make finding files possible. I figure a simple text-based listing, along the lines of what I already have produced, will be the first solution. I am not really considering creating any major re-workings of the collection. My intents are, to continue to add a new cock-hero-style video IF I LIKE IT in the same manner as I have been doing up to now.
Third: Mega's gotten more difficult to deal with, and stupidly so. More details in spoiler:
Spoiler: show
As I have mentioned a few times (if you followed this thread) they're becoming more restrictive. And they're applying the restrictions stupidly. Now, aside from simply sticking it to all of us with bandwidth and storage quotas that are increasingly more and more limiting, another thing they've begun to do, is to assess SHARED files against STORAGE quota even if you don't COPY the shared file. For example, if you put a mere three Kilobytes of data on the Mega cloud, but you have two friends, each of whom shares with you his own 30 Gigabytes of files, then your total of 60 Gigabytes and a few Kilobytes will be deemed to have exceeded the free 50 Gigabyte limit, despite the fact that you have only STORED 3 Kilobytes. Your own file volume is not over quota at all, but you are deemed to be over quota because you can ACCESS too much via SOMEONE ELSE'S account(s)? Weak. I don't exactly understand why Mega has decided, that any files owned controlled and stored by someone ELSE nevertheless count against MY quota, and it sort of begs the question of whether or not SHARING is actually POSSIBLE at Mega. Why share at all? Obviously, if a file which someone ELSE holds (but I do NOT hold) costs me just as much against my quota as does any file which I DO hold, then why would I ever bother to leave the other file in the other guy's storage and not get my own copy? Why would I not just take my own copy in the first place, since the act is just as detrimental to me to gain access to it by his sharing it with me, as it would be for me to gain access to it by copying and storing it myself. Thus, "sharing" at Mega has simply become "transferring" files among users. I figured they'd be smarter than that. In fact, previously Mega had appeared to me to operate as though they would somehow store each shared file in only one place but give to its six or eight (or a thousand) shared users full access to reading that file, thus saving storage space by sharing LINKS to files rather than full copies of the files themselves. Instead, now it seems, Mega will treat each file as though it has been re-copied to every new user's storage space redundantly. Dumb. And entirely the way all previous other storage systems seem to have worked. Thus, Mega no longer has a useful niche. Why would everyone not just use fuggin' Microsoft?

Meh. Anyway.

The change wrecks my system. This is redundant from previous posts, but I'll explain again anyway. My system had been, that I had gathered six or eight free Mega accounts together under one umbrella, and had stored roughly 45 Gigabytes in each account's cloud. I did this in order to take advantage of Mega's free 50-Gigabyte cloud storage which they give to every free account. I then managed all the accounts, and all 350 Gigabytes of files in them, from yet another Mega account, to which I gave shared access to all the other accounts' files. But with Mega's change, this main or management-only Mega account will break the quota if it tries to access any more than ONE of my other accounts (because, duh, twice, or thrice, 45 is always greater than its quota of 50; and how would you EVER stay below 50 and also share at the same time, AT ALL? duh ... humph ...). So, I've had to disconnect all the accounts from one another. No more sharing, to stay under quota. This means file location management has become prohibitively slow and annoying. Transferring files from one of my Mega accounts to another one is quite difficult, since you can't log in to more than one at a time on any one machine.

But it does not mean that I cannot control or manage the files. They're still exactly where they used to be, and I still have unique passwords and user-names and email addresses associated with each of the six or eight free Mega accounts, and I have not lost record of any of the log-in credentials. I just have to go through a lot more annoyance to fix things, so, I've decided not to fix past things. Wherever things are now, that's where they'll stay.

Some of you have kindly offered some help in managing the collection. I think I'm good, since there's really no way that I can give over management authority without also giving over all access and all authority, which seems like a bit of overkill and also a bit like begging for a breach of anonymity. Not that you generous souls would want to identify my real-world self, but the exchange of such info might make it easier for a more nefarious sort to intercept the info and threaten to discover private information. So for now, I'll keep it all in my own hands.
You really didn't need to know all of that, above, in the spoilers and so on. Just making sure everyone COULD be caught up if he NEEDED to be in the event of ... uh ... thermo-nuclear attacks on Seoul? I dunno, it's a weird world out there right now ...
